Wyoming Family

I was Honored to be able to do these photos for this amazing family!

***Anyone have advice about trouble shooting the seemingly sepia images showing up on my blog that are supposed to be Black and White?***

Pay it Forward Project (Part 1)

I was inspired by several friends through social media to do kind acts of service.
In addition, I could not stop thinking of the outpouring of kindness the community members had shown me and my family recently; I have had to buy few groceries thanks to the shared abundance of garden goodies from friends and neighbors; and when our baby was born I had meals for a week after only being in town a couple of weeks.
I was shown so much love from total strangers and I wanted to spread the love.
I really had to think to figure out how I could help others and with a little help and inspiration from my dear Aunt Leaca, I decided I was going to go for it.
I decided I would do 5 free photo sessions.

I had to build a logo, reread much of my software manuals, and dust of my tripod.

I'm here to report and share some favorites from the first shoot.

This dear family heard my prayers the first Sunday in town. I was eight months pregnant and after spending the previous three days moving and traveling I was in dire need of a shower. The bathroom in the house we were moving into wasn't quite finished and so I said a little prayer that we would be able to find a place to shower.
We met at church and my prayers were answered and I couldn't have been more grateful!
Wrangling these wild and adorable girls is a full time job! I loved photographing them!

These are a few of my favorites. I had so much fun. The light was beautiful and colors were awesome and the family was awesome and so much fun!

Love in the new Year!

"Love is a perfume you cannot pour onto others without getting a few drops on yourself"
-Emerson

This year I need a focus. I need something to always keep in the back of mind that prevents me from getting frustrated and down on myself. I read this quote and found my answer; I need to love others, find a place in my heart for all of God's children and let go of my narcissism. I get so caught up on how I can make myself look better, or be better, that if I were to look outside myself and find ways to reach out to my friends and family and, if the opportunity arises a stranger, I would be being better.
This year I pray that I can pour the perfume of love on those around me. There is always a reason to love someone, I want to be able to see that in others!

Power

I'm feeling powerful today;
Like I can do anything.
Nothing can get in my way.
Nothing can keep me inside.
I'm feeling powerful today.

Semester: Fall 2011

Integrative Physiology
Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries
Intro to Neurophysiology
American Indians in Film
Intro to Photography
Physiology tutor

I have to say; I'm more excited about this schedule than I've ever been before. Mon, Wed, & Fri I sleep in as long as I want, or get up early and have wonderfully productive mornings- my first class isn't till 12:00! Tues & Thurs I roll out of bed for my 8 am class and then hit the gym! I lucked out and got a locker this year, that's my first step of motivation. Mon- Thurs evenings I head over to the pool and swim my little arms off, then come home, check up on my blog and facebook, then work on school stuff. Not too crammed, not too much free time, a perfect balance!
I really am looking forward to this semester, not only the wicked awesome schedule, but also my classes. I'm especially excited about photography! I'm falling more and more in love with my camera everyday and I'm excited to learn more and improve my skills. None of my classes will be too tough if I keep up with them and stay engaged.

Here are my goals for the semester:
1. Stay up to speed in my classes- do a little everyday instead of a lot in one night, the night before.
2. Do my dishes.
3. Keep my laundry put away.

I think if I can stay caught up with that I'll be a happy girl, and my Cowboy will be even happier!

Wisdom Teeth

I woke up this morning nervous and scared of what the recovery would be like after having my wisdom teeth dug out from the depths of my oral cavity, so I went on a run with my mom to keep my mind off the surgery and my nerves under control. I've been told by multiple people "oh, it's not that bad..." Oh it is that bad! I didn't get put to sleep and I wish I would have! I saw everything, heard everything, smelled everything, and felt... enough. I remember every tug, yank, drill squeal, and suture. Despite the nitrous oxide and the pain medication, I am suffering!
I'm now drooling constantly, can hardly talk, and have the notorious chipmunk cheeks. I'm sorry for all of you who have to go through this! The one piece of advice I have is get put under- or you'll wish you had!
